Exodus 12:32
“The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will be on you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” (ASV)
In Exodus 12:13 the Lord says, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will be on you to destroy you,” establishing a rescue pattern in which an innocent lamb’s blood shields sinners from judgment. God was not improvising—He was planting a living signpost that would point straight to Jesus: the true Passover Lamb (John 1:29; 1 Cor 5:7). At the cross, Christ’s own blood marks everyone who trusts Him, so that God’s righteous wrath “passes over” us just as surely as it did the homes in Egypt, delivering us from slavery to sin and death into the freedom of a new exodus. The parallel is too precise to be coincidental; from the first Passover night, God intended His people eventually to recognize that the lamb foreshadowed the Son, and that the doorway splashed with blood prefigured hearts cleansed by faith in Jesus, our perfect, once-for-all substitute.
Sharing Jesus: This scripture is a foreshadow of the coming savior (Jesus) who paid the price for our sins through His suffering and crucifixion. His blood is now the "sign for you." Jesus resurrection demonstrates His power over life and death. All He asks from us is to turn from our sin and put our faith in Him (John 14:6.)
